Hope Thrives September 2022

Hello my Peeps,

How are each of you doing? It's hard to believe that we are now into autumn and that October is just around the corner. I don't know about where you live, but here in Edmonton, a bit of summer sunshine has returned and for that, I am thankful.

I'm also thankful that I have some MORE BIG NEWS coming your way in this newsletter! But other updates first.

At the beginning of September, my translator hubby and I took a break from our regular routine and headed out to the Chilcotin area of central B.C. We met my hubby's sister and her hubby and had a glorious time of rest, relaxation, and fishing in the quiet of God's amazing creation. I thank God for this yearly trip.

And, we brought home a goodly amount of rainbow trout to enjoy ourselves and to share. Trout anyone?!

As soon as we got home, I focused on finishing the workshop preparation for the writers' conference I attended this past weekend. I loved both preparing and presenting--and particularly enjoyed creating a fun and appealing powerpoint. Many attended my workshop and we had some engaging conversation on the topic of writing good dialogue. God gave me His strength, peace and JOY!

I really do enjoy teaching. Leading this workshop reminded me of that. So again, I'll share my speaker sheet information here for any of you. Please pass it on if you know of a church or organization or library or school that might be interested in having an author/poet/missionary/mental health caregiver come share:

And now for my BIG NEWS:

Remember how I said in my last newsletter that my novel, Rewriting Adam, had made the short list for the Word Awards (The Word Guild) in the Speculative Fiction category? Well, on September 17th they announced the winners and I WON! I couldn't believe it! I definitely teared up--and still do sometimes. I am humbled. I am honoured. God has been so good and kind to me in my writing journey.

No, that doesn't mean I'm rich OR famous. But it does make more people aware of me and my book. And, it does affirm me in my journey as a writer. And for that, I'm thankful.

I also give thanks for YOU. Thanks for being here, and thanks for the encouragement you give me just in signing up and reading my newsletters.

What's next for me? Writing. Writing. Writing. And, as always, it's good.

May you also find and know JOY in whatever you're doing.

SOLI DEO GLORIA

Hello my Peeps, BIG NEWS!!! I've got some big news to share with you. It's something that happened just a few weeks ago. But before I get to that, I better catch you up on other things in my life. EIGHT MONTHS! That's how long it's been since I sent out a newsletter update. I'm so sorry for not touching base on a monthly basis like I said I would. I've thought about it, knowing I needed to say hello to you, my faithful followers, but I just haven't been able to find the inertia. For the first...

Hello my Peeps, Sometimes hope doesn't thrive too well. Sometimes, it just hangs on by a thread. That's how I've been feeling when it comes to the printing company I chose to work with for Rewriting Adam. I've talked a bit about the issues I had with the first printing. Well, now I've been waiting for the re-printing for over a month. Over a month? Really? Yes! Like I said, hope is hanging by a thread. I was hoping to say "The wait is over!" in this month's newsletter. But alas, I'm asking...
